As part of the robust Parent Guest Speaker Program (PGSP) at LVISN, a talk by a physiotherapist parent was conducted in the school premises for classes IV and V. Dr. Ankita Gupta, an enthusiastic physiotherapist with over 15 years of experience in musculoskeletal assessment and rehabilitation, was the guest speaker of the day. She has served as HoD of Physiotherapy Department at Kamal Hospital, Kaushambi. She has also been a Physiotherapy lecturer in the Institute of Applied Medicine and Research, Ghaziabad.
Dr. Ankita apprised kids about the general sports injuries that occur and mentioned ways in which these injuries can be prevented by basic warm up and cool down exercises. A demonstration of simple stretching exercises was also done. Finally, the doctor gave students a simple formula of RICE – Rest, Ice, Compress and Elevate, which can be followed after any muscle injury.
Overall, it was an enriching session for the students as well as the teachers. Such PGSP programs are integral in enhancing the parent and school connect to facilitate student development.
