An enlightening session was conducted at LVISN by Prof. Victor Allen Sudhakar on the National Curriculum Framework (NCF) for Middle-Wing teachers on 7 October, 2023. The workshop emphasised the need to provide holistic and competency-based education to young learners. As per the NCF guidelines, learning in the middle wing needs to be experiential and project-based, enabling the learners to discover and learn through their own experiences. Focused on translating this theory into practice, the workshop session was a walkthrough of the NCF principles with examples from classroom situations.
Teachers were also taught to assess the child's abilities and interests through personalized learning and modify the lesson plans to make them more engaging and relevant to the child. The teachers were told that the primary goal of education should be to develop critical thinking skills, creativity, ethical values, and life skills among students.
The fruitful session was productive for staff members, as various strategies, tools, and best practices for teaching and learning were shared, involving collaboration and active contribution. The interactive session, case studies, and practical exercises conducted during the session allowed the participants to explore the NCF and arrive at classroom teaching methods that resonate with the principles outlined in it.
