In the wake of the 4th Industrial Revolution that Artificial Intelligence is heralding in the modern society, it is imperative that school students are equipped with an elementary knowhow on the subject. To this effect, LVISN organised a Guest Speaker Program on Artificial Intelligence for the students of Grades 11 and 12 on 10 May, 2023. Dr. Vipul Mathur, a Professor at IIM Kolkata, and a stalwart in the field of Artificial Intelligence, was the speaker for the day.
Beginning with a brief history of AI, Dr. Mathur apprised students of the broad contours of the subject and its future application. Students were particularly excited to learn about the 9 types of intelligence, the power of algorithms and the various functionalities of ChatGPT, the software referred to as ‘the new genie in town’! The informative session spiked students’ curiosity about AI and their specific queries were patiently addressed by Dr. Mathur at the end of the session.
