Battle of Words- The Inter-School English Debate

Lotus Valley International School, Noida hosted Battle of Words- The Inter-School English Debate on 14 May, wherein 20 of NCR's top schools participated and vied for the coveted rolling trophy. The theme for the debate this year was the Indian Heritage and the topics for the debate were designed to make the participants  explore how relevant our long-standing traditions are in the modern age and whether or not they can stand the test of time. 

The Judge's Panel was composed of the famous author Ms Sutapa Basu, who is celebrated across the country for her best selling novels and anthologies among which, the most famous is 'Padmavati' and 'Dangle'. The second jusge for the day was the best-selling writer and motivational speaker Mr Ajit Panicker who is already famous for his two novels and is now working towards writing a Bollywood Screenplay. The judges commended the talent and skill with which the participants  put forth their arguments and were impressed by the well-reasons contention of each debater. 
The Rolling Trophy was bagged by the LVIS home team but, in the spirit of hospitality and modesty, the trophy was passed on to the first runners-up- Somerville School, Noida.  Gaurav Bisht from Somerville Noida and Samriddhi Choudhury from D.P.S Greater Noida bagged the Best Speaker Awards For and Against the Motion, respectively while the Best Interjector Award went to Gauri Awasthi from The Indian School.
