The Lotus Valley International School delegation, comprising of thirteen students, participated in TAFS MUN organized by The Air Force School, Subroto Park, New Delhi, from 22nd -24th December, 2015.
The ceremony commenced with a melodious rendition of the UN song truly apt for the occasion. The Principal Mrs. Deepika formally welcomed the guests and spoke passionately about the importance of Model United Nations and the role of our children in building a harmonious world. Subsequently, the audience was enthralled by the school song composed by music maestro A R Rehman. After the enchanting opening ceremony, the MUN moved on to the procession of the committees with delegates who had been preparing for the MUN with tremendous zeal and enthusiasm. Every delegate looked ready and the first timers were encouraged by the Chair of the council to speak without inhibitions.
With over 20 schools participating in this highly competitive conference from all over India, LVIS delegation lived up to its expectation. Young and bright minds expressed their views eloquently and raised important questions. Kshitiz Gulati and Aditya Bhamu of class XI won the Verbal Mention awards in UNGA committee for their exceptional oratory skills and deep knowledge of the topic given to them. Shrieda Jain of class XI won the Special Mention award for her exemplary performance in the US House of Representatives.
The closing note was delivered by Mrs.Lata Vaidyanathan, Ex.Principal of Modern School Barakhamba Road, Delhi. The three day conference witnessed the highest level of thought and debate by the well researched, enthusiastic delegates on various global issues.
The event proved to be a success and a great experience for the students, where they learnt diplomacy, problem solving and debating.
