"Travel opens a mind more than any book can ever do".

Keeping in view the above, students of classes 4 and 5 were taken on an excursion to the Pratapgarh Farms located in the heart of Jhajjar, Haryana on Wednesday, the 25th of March 2015 and Thursday, the 26th of March 2015, respectively. These farms offered the students, a real feel of rural India, insights into its culture and close interaction with simple and hardworking village folk.

On their arrival, the students were given a grand welcome by the live folk musicians and dancers dressed up in Rajasthani costumes. A finger licking breakfast awaited the students after which they were taken for various recreational activities that included archery, air shooting, sling shot, Burma bridge, cricket, volleyball, trampoline jumping, soccer, kite flying, dart shooting, gilli danda etc... Camel, bullock cart, camel cart and tractor rides were the centre of attraction for the kids who enjoyed each and every bit of the rural India feel.

After a hearty lunch, students were taken for creative and domestic village activities such as pottery, henna application, matka painting, spinning the yarn, pounding and grinding grains, churning butter etc...   The students also enjoyed witnessing the agricultural and dairy activities such as ploughing, sowing, reaping and winnowing and being a part of them all. Apart from all this, the live dj and dhol session kept our young audience entertained and energized throughout the day.

This field trip certainly proved to be an enriching experience for the students, who learned about the geographical, cultural and ecological setting of rural India which came alive and out of their text books!!!
